ABA Releases ‘Learning From Law Firm Leaders,’ Uncovering the Nature of Effective Law Firm Leadership
CHICAGO, Nov. 19, 2012 – The American Bar Association announced today the release of Learning from Law Firm Leaders, a book written to uncover the essential nature of effective law firm leadership.
Realizing that leadership is best understood by what is observed: how leaders actually behave, think and make decisions, the authors, Susan G. Manch and Michelle C. Nash, interviewed 31 highly effective leaders, including emerging, current and succeeding leaders from firms of all sizes and types, to get as broad a view as possible. This book illuminates how professionals lead in the face of obstacles presented by a competitive legal marketplace and the unique nature of a law firm as a business.
Learning from Law Firm Leaders imparts what firm leaders learned from their experiences and expands more broadly on the topic of leadership competencies for law firm leaders. The book highlights how the changing law firm environment is influencing demands on and expectations of current and future leaders and what that means for law firms striving to thrive. The book also stresses the imminent leadership deficit firms face as the baby boomer generation approaches retirement and offers practical solutions for preparing the next generation of leaders to meet the challenges of changing markets and client demands and loyalty.
The book appeal to a broad audience including law firm business strategists, management committees, chief executive officers, chief marketing officers, chief talent officers and law firm leaders at any stage in their leadership journey.
