President Robinson Urges Members to Stand Up, Speak Out About Court Funding Crisis at 135th Opening Assembly
Top Lawyers from Military Branches Honored with Presidential Citations
In his remarks during the Opening Assembly of the ABA Annual Meeting, ABA President Wm. T. “Bill” Robinson reiterates the message that has become the hallmark of his tenure: “Adequately funded courts are the key to our consitutional democracy.”
Robinson also honors five military lawyers “who have dedicated their lives and their legal careers to defending our freedom.” Receiving presidential citations are Maj. Gen. Vaughn A. Ary, staff judge advocate to the Commandant of the Marine Corps; Lt. Gen. Dana K. Chipman, judge advocate general of the Army; Vice Adm. Nanette M. DeRenzi, judge advocate general’s Corps of the Navy; Lt. Gen. Richard C. Harding, judge advocate general of the Air Force; and Rear Adm. Frederick J. Kenney, judge advocate general of the Coast Guard.
