ABA Amends Ethics Guidelines on Client Confidentiality and Lawyer Mobility
At the 2012 ABA Annual Meeting, delegates approved Resolution 105F. The resolution, brought by the ABA Commission on Ethics 20/20, addresses the extent to which lawyers in different firms may disclose confidential information to each other to detect conflicts of interest that might arise when lawyers consider an association with another firm, two or more firms consider a merger, or lawyers consider the purchase of a law practice.
