Filmmaker Pamela Hogan Accepts Gavel Award for Women, War & Peace: I Came to Testify
Sheila Holis, chair of the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Gavel Awards, presents Pamela Hogan with the Silver Gavel Award in the documentary category for Women, War & Peace: I Came to Testify, a film in a five-hour PBS series. The film focuses on the first time an international tribunal considers rape as a crime against humanity. Bosnian Serbs were found guilty of raping Muslim women in the eastern Bosnian town of Foca during the Balkan conflicts of the 1990s. In the film, there are interviews with witnesses and the three female prosecutors who helped facilitate the case.
