David Boies, Jonathan Turley to Discuss in ABA Webinar How They Try High-Profile Cases

CHICAGO, Nov. 17, 2011 – Renowned litigator David Boies and nationally recognized legal scholar Jonathan Turley will share insights on trying high-profile cases in today’s media environment during an American Bar Association webinar Nov. 21.

Accredited journalists can receive complimentary registration to cover the program, which is otherwise available exclusively to ABA members.

Boies and Turley will be joined by Atlanta lawyer Randall Kessler, a frequent legal news commentator who represents entertainment and sports clients in family matters. Other panelists will be U.S. District Court Judges Barbara Lynn of the Northern District of Texas and Gene E.K. Pratter of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Named by Time magazine last year as one of the “100 Most Influential People in the World,” Boies this week signed on as counsel for National Basketball Association players in their dispute with league owners. Earlier this year, he represented the National Football League in its defense against an antitrust suit by players.

Boies was co-counsel in a successful federal lawsuit challenging California’s Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage, and he represented presidential candidate Al Gore before the U.S. Supreme Court in the landmark Bush v. Gore.

Turley, a law professor at George Washington University, has represented whistleblowers, military personnel and a wide range of other high-profile clients during the past two decades. A columnist for USA Today and frequent contributor to other national news publications, he often provides legal analysis on network news programs.
