Robinson Takes Gavel as American Bar Association President
As Wm. T. (“Bill”) Robinson accepted the presidency of the American Bar Association today, he thanked the sections, divisions and forums of the ABA, as well as the volunteer leaders and the staff. He detailed his plans for the upcoming year, which include a continuation of the initiatives started by previous presidents. He will maintain the study of the growing ethical challenges faced by lawyers related to technology advancements and the globalization of business, through the ABA Commission on Ethics 20/20, started by past President Carolyn Lamm. A task force to investigate the impacts of the nationwide problem of shrinking court budgets, established by his predecessor, Stephen Zack, will also continue. In addition, Robinson discussed two initiatives close to his heart: diversity and volunteerism. “Volunteerism and leadership are in our DNA as lawyers.”
