Background Materials on the ABA Commission on Hispanic Legal Rights & Responsibilities Now Available
The American Bar Association’s newly formed Commission on Hispanic Legal Rights and Responsibilities will investigate legal issues affecting the Latino community, including voting rights, civil rights and immigration, among several areas of interest. The end goal is to determine how the ABA can continue to pursue and improve upon its commitment to righting the wrongs of discrimination.
The commission will conduct regional hearings throughout the United States. The resulting information will be gathered into a final report along with recommendations that can be used to draft ABA policy and as a guide for Congressional and presidential administration policymakers.
A media kit with background materials on the new commission is available. These materials include a commission description with a schedule of upcoming hearings, a list of commission members and a fact sheet of statistics on Hispanics in America. Resources on related ABA issues of interest are also provided for review and use.
