The Role of the CIA in National Security Issues: An Insider’s Perspective
WASHINGTON, D.C., April. 29, 2010 — In the 34 years that John Rizzo served in the Central Intelligence Agency, he guided generations of agency officials on the legal contours of CIA operations and investigations. Called “the most influential career lawyer in CIA history” by former CIA Director George Tenet, Rizzo retired in December 2009. He held various positions at the agency, most recently as acting general counsel.
Rizzo will speak about his career experiences and the national security law issues he faced during his years at the CIA at the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Law and National Security breakfast program on May 5.
Rizzo is now a visiting fellow at the Hoover Institution and is working on a memoir of his career in the CIA.
