Lawyers to Help Restore City Park in New Orleans

Members of the American Bar Association Section of Litigation will participate in a public service project to help restore historic City Park and Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans.  The project will take place on Saturday, Jan. 16 from 1 – 4:30 p.m. at the conclusion of the section’s winter leadership meeting at the Hotel Monteleone.

Originally built by the Works Progress Administration, the stadium was under more than four feet of water when Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005. The stadium remains in desperate need of restoration and care. ABA members plan to plant vegetation and paint iron gates there to help bring pride and comfort to residents of the still struggling city of New Orleans. The section, along with generous contributions from law firms and individual members, will underwrite the cost of the plants, supplies and transportation to the park. As of this date, more than 100 leaders of the section have signed up to participate.

The section supports public and pro bono projects every year, often in conjunction with its meetings.
