Chief Judge for The District Of Columbia to Speak at ABA Meeting on Trying Terrorists in Article III Courts
WASHINGTON, D.C., Dec. 14, 2009 — Judge Royce Lamberth, chief judge, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, will discuss the controversial aspects of trying terrorists in Article III Courts during a Dec. 17 breakfast meeting sponsored by the American Bar Association Standing Committee of Law and National Security.
Judge Lamberth was appointed U.S. district judge in 1987 and became chief judge in May 2008. He served as presiding judge of the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court from 1995 – 2002, appointed by Chief Justice Renquist.
