RNR: Zack Seeks to End Notario Abuse
A growing number of Hispanic immigrants is being victimized by “notarios”–people who present themselves as immigration experts, but are not lawyers. Miami lawyer Steve Zack, who will become the first Hispanic-American president of the ABA in 2010, cautions that in some Latin countries, a “notario” may be a lawyer, but in the U.S. they are not qualified to give legal advice.
