Ohio Lawyer Nominated to American Bar Association Board of Governors

CHICAGO, March 24, 2008 – Lee S. Kolczun of Sheffield Village, Ohio, was nominated to serve as a member of the American Bar Association’s Board of Governors during the 2008 ABA Midyear Meeting in Los Angeles last month.  Kolczun’s nomination will be considered in August by the policy-making ABA House of Delegates when it meets at the 2008 ABA Annual Meeting in New York City. If elected, Kolczun will be one of 40 representatives who oversee the administration and management of the association.

Kolczun is a member of Lee S. Kolczun Co., LPA and has been a practicing in Lorain County for more than 33 years in the area of probate law, estate planning and worker’s compensation. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence and Masters of Business Administration degrees from Case Western Reserve University. Additionally, Kolczun has a certificate in Health Care Financial Management from The Ohio State University.

Kolczun’s commitment to the ABA extends more than two decades. He has been an active member of the General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Division since 1980 and is currently serving as the liaison to the Section Officers Conference. Kolczun is also the current GP/Solo delegate to the ABA House of Delegates. Kolczun was chair of the GP/Solo Division in 2004-2005.  Additionally, Kolczun is also a member of the ABA Council of the Fund for Justice and Education and a member of the Commission on Second Season of Service.

Beyond his service to the ABA, Kolczun was an assistant attorney general with the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and was an assistant prosecutor for the City of Lorain.  He has served in various positions with the Lorain County Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, and the Cleveland and Cuyahoga Bar Associations.

He has served on a number of philanthropic boards throughout Northeast Ohio and is currently serving on the Board for the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland Foundation. In 2008, Kolczun was also appointed by the Governor of Ohio to serve on the Board of Trustees for Lorain County Community College in Elyria, Ohio.
