Statement of ABA President William H. Neukom on the Signing by President George W. Bush of the College Cost Reduction and Access Act into Law

CHICAGO Sept. 27, 2007 — It is in our interest to invest in those who serve the public. Today’s signing into law of the College Cost Reduction and Access Act is an important first step in helping those — including lawyers — who choose a career in public service, by giving them new tools to cope with crushing educational debts. It will help our nation’s best and brightest pursue public service jobs in the law and in other fields. We commend Congress and the president for their action. And, we encourage future refinements to the law to ensure that all young Americans, regardless of background, can pursue their dream of working for their country, their fellow citizens and our justice system.
